The Perfect Nighttime Skincare Routine

The Perfect Nighttime Skincare Routine

After a stressful day at work, it's time to pull your hair back and do your nighttime skincare routine. You may not be looking forward to this ritual, however, if you're noticing your skin looking dull and lifeless, it's time to take your skincare up a notch and give it some loving care.

Makeup remover

Before you start pampering your skin, you first have to remove the dirt, oil, and of course, makeup. Pay attention to your eye area since it is one of the first parts of your face to show aging.

For this area, simply soak a cotton pad with your favorite makeup remover, put it over your eye for a few seconds to give the makeup time to dissolve, and you're done.

Cleanser

Your face may already look clean but that doesn't mean it is free from dirt. After removing your make up, proceed with an oil-based cleanser. Oil cleansers will help you get rid of your pesky pimples.

Oils are the best product you can use to dissolve all types of sunscreen and makeup formulas. Oils can also get rid of pollutants that may clog your pores. These oils act as an emulsifier so it won't leave your skin with an annoying greasy residue.

After rinsing the oil cleanser with lukewarm water, proceed with a foam or water-based cleaner. This type of gentle product will help you get rid of all the water-based free radicals in your face, which includes dirt and sweat.

Contrary to what you think, double cleansing is not just a marketing gimmick. It is an important skincare step.

Toner

A nighttime skincare routine without toner is not complete. This essential skincare step will balance out the pH level of your skin and prep it for other products and formulas that will follow. Just ensure that your toner is specifically formulated to target your major skin concern, such as hydration, fighting bacteria, or anti-aging.

Press the toner on your face using your palms if you want to go green. You can also soak a cotton pad with toner and tap it gently on your face and neck area.

Serum

Serums contain powerful ingredients that your skin needs.  Because it is made up of smaller molecules, the active ingredients can penetrate your skin better.

Many serums are very light since they are water-based. However, you can still find oils marketed as serums. Serums may be quite expensive but you'll find they are worth the money.

Oil

Adding more oil to your face will help your skin look better. Night oils balance out your skin's natural oil production. Because of this, oily skin will produce less oil since it's not getting a distress signal to relieve dryness. This product also helps lock in moisture and makes your skin glow.

Night cream

You've applied quite a lot of product to your skin, but you're not done yet. Now, you need to seal everything in with a good moisturizer. This way, all the hard work in the previous steps will not be for nothing.

Lip Balm

Don't forget to take care of your lips. To soften your pout, apply a lip mask to combat the drying effects of wearing tint or lipstick, and the damage from external elements. A lip sleeping mask enriched with vitamin C will help heal chapped lips faster and ensure that your lips stay plump and kissable.
