Your neck and decollete are often just as exposed to daily sun damage and environmental aggressors as your face is, yet so many of us neglect to use neck creams to keep the skin here looking youthful too, which is why it can be one of the first areas to show signs of aging.
Adding a neck cream infused with anti-aging ingredients to your routine will help to keep it soft and hydrated, and more importantly delay the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age-related dark spots. At Editors’ Pick, we have one of the very best neck cream collections online, with powerfully-effective products from premium skincare brands such as Obagi, Dr. Brandt, Jan Marini and Strivectin.

How does neck cream work?
To keep your skin here tight neck cream uses much the same ingredients as an anti-aging face cream would. So why not just use your face cream on your neck? Well, the skin on your neck is actually slightly different: it’s thinner, with fewer oil glands and less collagen and fatty tissue. This makes it more prone to getting dry and looking wrinkly or crêpey.
So a typical neck and decollete cream will actually be more concentrated than an equivalent face cream. Using your face cream on your neck is better than nothing, but a targeted neck cream is your best line of defense against visible aging!
How often should I apply neck cream?
For best results, neck creams should be applied twice per day - in the morning and again at night, as you do with your face cream. In the morning, unless you plan on wearing a turtleneck don’t forget to follow up your neck cream with a sunscreen applied as far down your decollete as will be visible!
How can I tell what is a good quality neck cream?
The best neck and decollete cream ingredients are the same ones that will take years off your face, namely retinol and peptides. Your neck cream should also contain hydrating, moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, ceramides or glycerin, and it’s a major plus if it also contains antioxidants.
It’s also important that these ingredients are not just in the product, but present in a sufficiently-high concentration to deliver results. Avoid ultra-cheap drugstore neck creams (they probably won’t do much for you!) and check out previous customers’ reviews to see what they thought about the neck and decollete cream you’re interested in.
